Here’s how it all works……
TAKE ACTION!
Set up a consultation by calling our office at (757) 487-1101 or contact
us online. We will contact you to set up a free in-home consultation.
Our consultant will arrive at the scheduled time to meet with you
in your garage. It’s helpful to have all adults who use the
garage present so that the consultant can get a good feel for how
everyone uses it.
The consultant will ask questions and discuss your vision for your
garage.
Typical questions are:
What would you like your garage to be?
- A work area
- An organize storage space
- A place to park the cars
- A cool space where I can hang out with friends and my car or motorcycle
- A family fun area
- All of the above
What type of activities take place in the garage?
- Miscellaneous
- home projects
- Working on cars or motorcycles
- Crafting
- Gardening
- Family fun
- No activities
Is there a budget for the project?
Customers typically invest between $2,500 and $6,000 for a complete
garage system. The project can be completed at one time or in phases.
A floor system can add to this amount. Knowing the budget will allow
the consultant to recommend a solution that is within the budget you
have established for the project.
Now that the consultant has a good feel for your goals, the design
process will begin. The consultant will survey the items you store
in the garage and take detailed measurements of the space. Armed with
this information, the consultant will prepare a plan to make over
your garage. The plan may include some or all of the following storage
solutions:
• A work area with an appropriate work surface
and storage for tools and other supplies that may be used around the
work area.
• Cabinet storage where supply items like paint
and other harmful chemicals, lawn and garden supplies, auto supplies,
bulk pantry supplies, sporting equipment and seasonal items can be
stored safely behind closed doors.
• Open shelving for easy access to larger items
like coolers, boxes and bins.
• A wall storage system to hang items that
will not fit in a cabinet or sit on a shelf. These items could include
ladders, bicycles, lawn equipment, sports equipment and beach chairs.
• Overhead storage which, if the ceiling height
allows, can be used to store infrequently used items like seasonal
decorations, bicycles, kayaks, coolers and larger boxes.
• A garage floor can give your garage the feel
of a room. A slip-resistant, easy-to-clean floor is the finishing
touch to any garage makeover.
Once the consultant has completed a draft of the plan, it will be
presented for your review and comment. The presentation will include
pictures and drawings of the proposed plan. Together, you and the
consultant will review the plan to confirm that it’s exactly
what you have in mind. Changes to the plan can be made at this time,
of course.
In most cases the entire process outlined above takes place during
the initial appointment; more involved makeovers may require a return
visit.
Once the plan is finalized, you can decide how you would like to proceed.
In order to begin work, we will collect a deposit, e-mail you the
design plan and schedule an installation date. In a few short weeks,
our professional installer will arrive to execute your garage makeover.
In just one to two days your garage will be transformed into an organized,
attractive space that will be a source of pride and enjoyment for
as long as you live in your home.
Enjoy your new garage!
Get ready for your Garage Makeover
We encourage all homeowners to sort through their contents before
we install their garage system. Donate, sell or dispose of items that
are no longer used or needed. When in doubt, throw it out! If you
haven’t used it in years, if it’s broken, or if you have
two of them – get rid of it.
Once you have narrowed down the items to those that need to be stored,
separate the items into like categories, i.e. hand tools, lawn and
garden, toys and recreational items, harmful chemicals (paint, yard
chemicals, auto supplies, cleaning supplies). Place all the items
you have decided to keep in the center of your garage. You are now
ready for the install to begin.
Once the install is complete, it’s time to put everything in
its place. Store like items together in an accessible, logical place
near where they will be used, so they will be easy to reach and easy
to put back in place. Items that will be used in the house (mops,
brooms, cleaning supplies) should be stored near the entry door to
the house. Hand tools should be stored near the workbench. Lawn tools
should be conveniently located near the garage door.
The goal is to have a place for everything that will be stored in
the garage. If there is not a place for an item, it will end up on
the largest shelf of all -- the floor!
Maintaining your newly organized garage
To maintain your now-organized garage, you simply have to put your
belongings back where they belong. Now that everything has a home,
it will be easier to find what you’re looking for and to keep
your garage in order. Think twice before adding anything new and if
you do decide to add something, give it a home immediately. |
